Lucy Gray Baird was a reputed American suffragist and women's rights activist who played a significant role in securing political and social rights for women in the United States. She was born on January 26, 1869, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1890. Baird worked as an attorney in Minneapolis and later moved to New York to participate in the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA). In 1910, she became the chair of the legislative committee of the National Women's Trade Union League. Baird drafted several labour laws and was known for her work in the protection of women in the workplace. She died on March 29, 1953, in New York City, and is remembered as one of the prominent suffragettes who worked tirelessly for women's rights.
